With these resources, teachers will guide students through a brief overview of the history of fears of overpopulation promoted by well-respected scholars, including Thomas Robert Malthus. Then students will explore why the anticipated perils did not occur, the importance of population growth, and the relationship between population size and technological advances.

These resources were developed in collaboration with Kirk Doran Ph.D. and Joseph Kaboski Ph.D. Both Dr. Doran and Dr. Kaboski are Professors of Economics at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Doran’s research focuses on issues in labor economics, innovation economics and international migration. Dr. Kaboski’s work focuses on growth, development and international economics.
